  1. I am not sure if this question falls under this part of the forum. I am new to the whole world of burning movies to watch on a DVD player. I would use either Vista or Windows XP computer.

How do I burn a movie file to DVD to watch on a standard DVD player?

What program should I use to do the actual burning? IMG Burn, Nero, etc...

Any suggestions? Please provide some general instructions in your suggestions.

Depends on what the file is ISO? MPG? AVI?. ISO it is fine to use IMG BURN, Nero is another program that is also good for it.

It depends on what your "movie file" is.

It may or may not need to be converted to suitable format and or authored.

Just being an ISO does not mean anything as an ISO is just a container and can contain anything or any type of video file.

And, of course, it may also depend upon the player you want to use - and whether or not it allows you to play videos from data discs.

You might take a look at some of the 'All-In-One' DVD converters here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/all-in-one-dvd-converters

AVStoDVD is popular and should give you a standard DVD that will work on most settop DVD players and most common input formats.
