  1. I have just downloaded scary movie.avi(1 of 2) first half, i have nero 5.5, i have read and printed how to burn with nero from the homepage. when i start to write, the box comes up with. VIDEO 1(MODE2/XA) VIDEO CD and in the white box in the middle of the screen it says ENCODING VIDEO and gets to 23% and freezes, is there a way that i can DRAG AND DROP the movie and basically let it go straight to burn instead of nero having to try to encode it, any replies would be much appreciated, as i can burn games and music no problem that i have downloaded. thankyou.

Although using NERO to encode the AVI/DivX will work, its probly the worst way to go. Use one of the guides on this site. This one looks pretty good---> http://www.vcdhelp.com/divxtovcd.htm .

Like I said, you can use NERO but I wouldnt!!!

  3. you should use an encode program from the tool section to your left . tmpgenc is pretty good . if you read the forums they will answer alot of questions , trust me it worked for me . you may also look at vcdeasy because i have come across that nero is not as great as it seems always finding errors and things , i use both . good luck

  4. You can use tempgenc or you can use avi2VCD if you don't have a specific bit rate you want to use to make the VCD..AVI2VCD uses the standard whitebook setting to make a mpeg 1(VCD) files.. once you convert to MPEG 1 using tempgenc or avi2VCD you should have no problem burning and creating a VCD. with Nero.. **PS don't expect DVD quality with the VCD

If I was you I would check the AVI for bad frames, I agree Nero is rubbish at this work, and TMPGEnc would be much better, however even TMPGEnc will error at 23% if there are bad frames.

Try loading the AVI into Vdub 1.49 and check it for bad frames, if there are some select video and audio streaming and save as, save a new copy out should correct the error's (vdub help JUNK frames)

I was using "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe" to search and find bad frames.
