Hi everyone!
Can anyone give me some guidance how to get the best output?
I’m trying to convert some old VideoHi8 tapes to VCD/XVCD, and to do this I have upgraded my system with the Hauppauge WinTV PVR board.
Previously I have captured my video from a non PVR Hauppauge board at 640* as an .AVI file, and thereafter convert it in MediaStudio to XVCD PAL, this has been working relatively ok and with a descent quality and low number of lost frames (less than 2%). However had this the drawback that I was forced to capture the video in less than 3 minutes sequences as I otherwise got over windows 2G limitation.
To get around this my thought was to capture in MPEG2 with (8Mbit bitrate) and thereafter convert it in MediaStudio to XVCD PAL.
The MPEG2 files was of great quality, but whatever other format I chose to save it in MediaStudio I always ended up with something much less than VCD quality.
Does any one have any experience of capturing in MPEG2 and could give me some guidance what to expect?
Reg
Joakim
