    I would like to play a Region 2 dvd on my Philips 3040 Region1 Player
    Can anyone help me?

    and hope the player also has the option to convert PAL to NTSC video format.

    Is your Region 2 from Japan or Europe/Middle East? If it is a Japanese DVD, then it is NTSC. All you would need to do is make a region-free backup of the disc using a tool like DVDFab Decrypter. (That way, you wouldn't have to hack your player and risk killing it.) If the disc is from Europe or the Middle East, well...you have more issues than the region, as hech54 has mentioned. Your player would have to be capable of displaying PAL movies on an NTSC television. That's a whole 'nother can of worms.
