Hello,
I'm trying to convewrt DV (AVI) to h.264 to stream it on the web. what the best software recommended to achieve the best quality in the shorter time? How about Adobe Media Encoder (CS4)?
Another question: is there any difference in the quality of the final 400 kbps depend if the converting was made directly from the DV (12 GB per H) or from a 1.5 MBps WMV?
Thank you very much!

depends. if you are editing first, then you might as well use ame. if the whole file is being encoded to h264 without editing use handbrake, mediacoder, or other x264 using program.
DVavi - 25mbps. going to .4mbps h264 is quite a quality hit. a wmv with 4 times the h264 bitrate most likely retains better video. but it's easy for you to do a sample of each type and compare.--
