I think I did this thread awhile back but I thought an update would be interesting.
Up until about last summer I was in the habit of buying video games and not actually finishing them. I'd just kinda collect them and play them for a little while and lose interest and forget em.
The game that finally inspired me to actually beat a game was GHOSTBUSTERS from last summer. That was so well done and I love both Ghostbusters movies and the original REAL GHOSTBUSTERS cartoons from the 80s. I really got into it and had to finish the single player campaign. I was glad I did.
I then got inspired to actually finish some of my other games. I also got into Uncharted 2 in a big way. In fact I went back after I finished Uncharted 2 and bought and finished Uncharted 1.
---------------------------------------------------
Just to get back on topic I just finished HALO 3 ODST last weekend. I've had it a year but I really only bought it for the Halo Reach BETA which was awesome. I am now finally getting around to beating the Halo 3 campaign.
-------------------------------------------------------
Since last year this is my list of completed games:
Ghostbusters
Uncharted 2
Uncharted
God of War 3
Xmen Wolverine Origins
TMNT Arcade - download xbla
TMNT Remux - download xbla
HALO 3 ODST
EDIT- two big ones I left off -
ASSASSINS CREED 2 - AWESOME game!!
Batman Arkham Asylum - also fantastic
I think I've beaten one or two more but this is the main group. I still own more than this of course but I just haven't beaten them yet.
I still have a bunch of pc games from the 90s I've yet to beat. I've got a slew of Lucasarts 90s StarWars games that I've never completed. I did beat Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 but not Jedi Knight 2 - I still have my Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 strategy guide!.
So what are some recent (or not so recent) games that you've beaten?
--------------------------------
Or do you just buy games for MULTIPLAYER? Or more specifically shooter multiplayers that don't have a co-op story mode? Because you could actually complete a co-op multiplayer story - a straight up multiplayer shooter doesn't have a story mode whereas co-op really does....
Edit - oh yeah I've "beaten" a couple of the guitar hero and rockband games but those aren't exactly traditional games to beat. Yeah they sorta have a lame-o story arc but not really - though you do get acheivements/trophies for completing it![]()

I don't have as much time as I used to for gaming so I don't get around to the games I'd like to play until they've been out a little while. For instance I just finished Dragon Age: Origins over the holiday weekend. I bought it on Steam a long time ago and didn't start playing until this spring but since it has so much content it took me a long time to finish it. Great game, was a little disappointed it had to end. Looking forward to the expansion though.
I've learned that as a gaming procrastinator who uses Steam to buy most of his games I'd recommend procrastinating on purchasing until Steam runs sales on the game. For instance I could have saved $30 by waiting until I started playing Origins to buy the game because they had a sale on it when the expansion was launched.FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -
The last three games i've beaten are:
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GB Advance)
Dracula X (Turbo Grafx CD)
Kingdom Hearts (PlayStation 2)
I'm currently playing Tales of Vesperia on the XBOX 360. -
Well, i think it was Sniper Ghost Warrior, first on the 360 then on the PC.
But before that was Battlefield Bad Company 2, which as far as i am concerned, kicked Modern Warfare 2's @$$!!!!!!
Again, both beat on the 360 first then played a few times afterwards on the pc.
The funny thing is, everyone i know that loved COD MW2, when i asked them if they liked Battlefield Bad Company 2, they either said it was too hard to get used to the controls or it was just too hard!!!!
LMAO!!!!
Damn sissy's!!!!!!
The young kids today just don't know what a real battle was like online from the old UT clan days!!!!
I can't wait for the new one to come out, COD Black Ops, but if it's anything like the COD MW2 or WAW, i may be disappointed once again.....The last couple of COD's were crap compared to some of the Brothers In Arms games i played. But i do recall some other game coming out that seemed to look even better yet.... it's one of the war game's but i can't remember at the moment, i'd have to go look through one of my pc gaming mags to find it again.
Batman Arkham Asylum was a killer game!!!!
I beat it at least 3 times, i can't wait for the next one!!!
Also Dead Space is definitely one of my all time favs!!!!!!!
I can not wait for DS2!!!
I was actually considering buying a Wii just so i could play Dead Space: Extraction & a couple of other games, including the new super mario borthers.Last edited by Noahtuck; 9th Sep 2010 at 23:07.

Though I do complain that MW2 is a bit stingy on the target area you have to hit opposing players online. I guess its just that the only shooter I've really been exposed to has been HALO and its pretty "friendly" as far as your target zone for actually scoring a hit on another player - scoring a kill is another matter for me but at least you get satisfaction knowing you actually grazed the player.
The first time I played MW2 I was like - DUDE I WAS AIMING RIGHT AT THE GUY AND NEVER TOUCHED HIM!
I have gotten a little better at it. MW2 is the first "realistic" shooter I've played in a long time. So getting used to "real world" physics is a bit tough from the sci fi games.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
First true game that I beat was Dungeon on a PDP11-70 at school. We had a few of us that would get into the computer room at school most Saturday mornings. Those were the days... man that was fun. Dungeon was the precusor to the formal Zork pc series and had great puzzles. I was the first to find out how to kill the thief!
We had all our maps in ASCII text/art across reems of greenbar. What a thing of beauty. I might still have it around somewhere.
Anyway more recent, the full Zelda series (sans gameboy titles), full Metroid series (sans gameboy) and Mariokart. As you can see I'm more of a game gamer than a realism gamer and as such have more a penchant for Nintendo consoles. Though going through the PC games its the same: all the Doom series (and many maps), Hexen, Heretic, Duke Nukem, Quake... man I love to game.
I wish life wouldn't get in the way so much...
Going through GC Metroid on the Wii with the Metriod Trilogy right now to get ready for Other-M. No correlation between them just set a goal of beating all three on the Wii before getting Other-M.Have a good one,
neomaine

inspired me to actually beat a game was GHOSTBUSTERS). This was the first game i got really happy was coming out in a while, even more so when i found out the actors were doing the voices. This was the first game I actually played through and beat in a long time.
Some of the recent games i have played and beat would be
Star Wars Lego Original Triology.
Space Ace on my iphone (Never really played it before other than a few times when it came out at arcade).
Space Quest I Original Sierra
In case you didn't know you can play many of the original early Sierra games online at http://sarien.net/
(warning they can be buggy)
I mainly play arcade style, short games now. I do like World series of Poker on my iphone. -
In case any one is a Halo fan here I just got REACH today. VERY GOOD! I plan on trying to beat it this weekend. Though I am going to the UofM football game Saturday so it may not be this weekend but I'll get through it as much as I can.
I already love the multiplayer. I had played the BETA in the spring with my ODST copy and liked it a lot. The finished product is excellent.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
the last game i finished was resident evil 4 for the gamecube, that was a great game, i played that all the way through, including all the mini games, numerous times.
didn't finish resident evil 5, found it had strayed to much from the original's focus, before that i finished all the other resident evils, again numerous times, max payne 2, postal 2 (what a great game), civ 3, a few from the street fighter and tekken series and of course super mario bros, both in the arcade and on the console. -

Very good game. Though I felt a bit robbed. I only got 25g for finishing the game on normalI may try to tackle it again in heroic to get a 100g sometime
The action is very solid and the story is pretty compelling. Now in less than a month I beat three Halo games - Halo 3, ODST, and REACH. I have yet to beat 2 which I have on pc-dvd and I don't have a copy of Halo 1 - is it on Steam?????Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Man I just tried to play Halo Reach for an hour and I got motion sick. I got really hot, then I dry heaved, and had uncontrollable slobber for about 5 mins. I got sick with halo 3 but after I puked 2 times I got used to it, but man reach really made me sick. (Been about a year since I have played halo)
I probably puke a couple of more times and still play the game till I beat it though -
@ps2daddy - really?? I never had a problem with it.
Do you have this issue with other first person shooters? Could it be the bobbing and weaving they use to create the sense of motion?
EDIT - I did find out that halo 1 is on xbox live for the downloadable xbox original games. So I downloaded and am now somewhere in the first few missions after landing on the planet.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Yep portal does that to me real bad also. Riding in the warthogs in Halo reach it really does it to me

Sorry to hear you have that issue.
What about flight sims that are cockpit based? Do you have the same problem or is the action different enough from fps to not be an issue?Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
