So have you ever designed your own video game level? I dont' mean a whole video game from scratch. I'm talking about using a video game level editor.
These days games like Halo 3 and Little Big Planet have internal game designing level systems.
I have yet to produce one. THough I have started the tutorial in Little Big PLanet. I just haven't finished it yet. And I haven't gone in to FORGE on Halo 3 either.
How about you?

If you're asking why this isn't a main page poll here it is - one thing I've learned over the years on my polls here is that there is not a large enough gaming subcommunity on videohelp to sustain a main page poll for more than a few days. So here it is in off topic where it may have better "shelf life" so to speak.

Side question - was the original doom the most "modded" game ever? it seems like the Wad files are astronomical in terms of sheer numbers you could get. I do have a question - was the level editor ever included on an official disc? Or was that download only?

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

I was involved pretty heavily with Marathon back when it was coming out. I started level designing as part of a local group that had been building an entire mod for the Infinity version of the game called Marathon: EVIL. What's awesome is its been given a new life by the open source port for Windows which is now freely available (called Aleph One) so I was able to go back and play something I hadn't played in nearly 10 years. Some of my other creations were put in as part of another total mod called Tempus Irae. The shooter is a little dated now but the best part of that game wasn't the fighting, it was all about the story unfolding as you accessed terminals.
So Bungie calls the Halo editor Forge? It got its start in Marathon.FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -
I put other, as I'm sure you're refering to modern games
I used to program games on my TRS-80 in Basic and Assembly (8088)
Then I would transfer them to cassette and sell the games at the swap meet
I did 2 games from the ground up and modded few games -

Doom wasn't out in 1992 -- think more like 1996. I was editing Wolfenstein in about 1995.

ls, you may have been editing Wolfenstein in '95, but that's way behind. Doom came out late '93. I think that I still have the shareware floppies somewhere
I worked on a couple of TCs for Doom with some people, but we were beaten to the punch by others who actually had time to do it. Even though we were half serious about making it commercial, the underlying thought was 'Who is going to pay for these things when you can make them or download them for free?"
