Hi all, I received my new Lacie Lacinema Classic HD today. Tried to connect the thing to my Mac book pro (2007) through the USB connection and the hard drive mounts well but I dont see any folders where I can drop of my files (in my case video). There should be at least 4 folders (video, photo, music, upgrades).I also have the La cinema Classic (non HD) and this one I can connect with no problems.

I'm really frustrated, when I connected the hard drive to my TV using the HDMI connection I can see that it is formatted the right way and I see all the options expected. I went into the audio/video settings and I noticed that the PAL setting is the current one for video. I tried to change this to NTFS in case this could make a difference later when I try to connect to the computer again, but the system would not let me change it. Im stuck with the PAL setting.

I tried resetting the unit while connected to the tv but it didnt work (through the system settings).

    Please help,

PAL and NTSC are video formats, and have nothing to do with the HDD or your computer connection. NTFS is the file system you were thinking of, but you would not be able to switch it simply as you can between video formats (PAL vs NTSC is just a switch, NTFS to anything else is a reformat of the HDD).

What does the manual say about working with Macs ?

The manual says that I need to reformat the hard drive because it comes ready for windows and not for mac. I'm in the process of reformatting the drive and to try connecting again to my TV. I will let you know if this works. If Im able to drop off files and connect then I will see what is going on with the Pal and NTSC dilemma...(thanks for your prompt response!!!)

Okay, I had to erase the hard drive, then reformat it and then drop some files for testing.
It is now working....I tried to just reformat as the instructions for the manual were saying but that didnt work, I actually had to erase the disc (with my fear that I was erasing the operating pathways for the t.v.) but that didn't happened, fortunately. It is all good now.......!
