  1. I have 2 sequences in my project.

First sequence setting is DV PAL - and consists of some 4:3 background mov with a title.

Second sequence is the actual video, setting is AVCHD 1080i50 and has MTS files.

I created a new sequence to place both these sequences on, it was 1080i50.

I then exported as one file, export settings were MPEG2-DVD PAL.

For some reason - when I play the resulting file, the first sequence is very small like a square. The second part is fine and fills the entire screen as expected.

How can I get around this so the first part fills the screen more and looks normal. Will I have to export both sequences separatlely or change the settings on sequence 1 so it matches sequence 2?

    Thanks

  3. This is normal.

You are combining standard definition 4:3 aspect ratio content, with high definition 16:9 content in a 16:9 HD project sequence setting. The SD material should look like it's pillarboxed

If you make the project settings SD and 4:3 , then you will cut off then left and right ends of the 16:9 HD content , and scale down the quality of that piece to make it "fit" the SD settings.

Since the actual movie is HD and 16:9 , it doesn't make sense to scale that down, so I would live with the pillarboxed SD material, or replace it with something else

  4. Thanks guys.

I exported both sequences separately (both as DVD-MPEG2). I then used TSmuxerGui to join them and it seems to work great. When I played the video on my TV, the initial sequence was no longer tiny. It was properly in a normal 4:3 aspect.
