    Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 910 mini. It has Ubuntu Linux operating system on it. I would like to put XP. Can I do this through a USB thumb drive? It has no cd drive. Here are the specs. Also it only has 8gb hard drive..... is that enough for XP? I have read where some have ran XP on these but don't know how.

Depending on how much you put on it 8BG may or may not be enough space. I first installed WinXP last fall which occupied 6.2GB with the programs I have, but that's grown to 10.5GB with all the Windows updates. Also keep in mind at least 15% free space is recommended to run Defrag. IMO 8GB isn't large enough for WinXP unless you have very few programs installed. FYI my system is dual boot with Win2k which occupies just 4.2GB with all updates and all the same programs installed. You might consider either going with Win2k or getting a larger drive. BTW Win2k support is scheduled to stop on July 13 if memory serves, i.e. no more Windows updates, patches, etc.

I have an Asus netbook that originally had a 4GB HDD. The original eePC linux distro was good at downloading updates, etc - to the point that it filled the hard disc (SSD). I did upgrade to a 32GB SSD, and changed the OS to eebuntu. It made a huge difference! It takes up far less space, has plenty of apps and games, connected to the internet, etc..

I have a Plextor external drive that I connect for upgrades, etc.. (we have four netbooks in the house).

I did see a refurb drive at newegg today for $25 after rebate (on slickdeals.net and dealcatcher).

I hope you're lucky enough to get it to run. BTW: I'm pretty certain XP will try to install tons of updates, and may even fill up the 8GB SSD.
