    Hello all.

I'm new at this so I'm open to corrections.

Currently, I have a 1 gig HD wmv file (1280x720) which I would like to brake down into playable smaller portions and upload for my private members. Clip portions to keep HD. File sizes after cutting - 250mb x 4 playable clips ?

I also would love to offer larger 1980x1080 dimensions but the files end up far too big for uploading.

It seems the smaller in dimensions I make the files, the worse the quality gets.

Ideally, I would like to offer my members
WMV, MPG, MP4 and streaming FLV.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated.

    Give us more information like:
What's the runtime for each portion?
Do you want the smaller clips to be in HD also?
What file sizes do you have in mind?

The wmv is probably already heavily compressed and making it much smaller and keeping the hd wont problaby work that fine. Maybe just try cut it using a wmv cutter like asfbin, movica(they do not reconvert the video). But you must of course convert if you want it in other formats.

    and Welcome to our forum!

Strange. The asfbin converts files from wmv to asf. Is there any way to keep it as wmv after split?

and movica is giving me split errors below...

    "PROCESSING FAILED!
    Reason: Configuration file is missing."

  5. You can safely rename .asf to .wmv

  6. Ozzy,

I was also having your same problem with Movica.
I fixed it by moving the video file to the base directory (C:\Program Files\Movica or C:\Program Files\SourceForge\Movica, Windows XP) and then splitting. The problem is that Movica was trying to find the file MovicaTemp.@@@ in that directory, even though it was putting it in whatever deriectory you opened your video from.

It may still say that it failed, but just make sure you have the base directory open, give it a minute, and it should work.
