    hi there i got a mkv file its 15.gig

    is there a way i can make this smaller to fit on a dvd9

    it can be a mkv or avi or dvd my player plays most formats including mkv

    i want to keep the quality as good as i can

    if so what program can i use to make it smaller or convert to a diff format

    i know there is convertxtodvd but that does not do 2 passes .

    i need some where i can work the birate out and put it in so it will be best it can

    Reconvert it with handbrake or ripbot264. You can adjust the output size in handbrake under the video tab. In ripbot264 you change the encoding mode to 2-pass and then you can set the lock size to whatever you want.

    You can also use most all-in-one converter https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/all-in-one-video-converters to shrink to a mkv. Use h264 and aac audio.

    And remember that many dvd players do not support hd material so you might have to resize to around 720x/480/576.
