  1. Is there a way to edit AVCHD in Vegas 10 pro and save it to a format that can be uploaded to youtube (IE: not a lossless format) without much quality loss? Thus far everything I've tried has resulted in a very noticeable loss in quality. I realize that youtube quality is very low anyway, but the quality of the file you input seems to matter a lot, as uploading raw .mts files from my camera (Canon HG20) results in the best quality I've seen on Youtube, while uploading anything I've reencoded from them suffers a serious quality loss.

use the sony avc encoder and a template matching your source/or change one to match it, go to options and change the bitrate to as high as it goes. the internet templates are usually a good place to start. make sure the project render quality is set to best.

  3. I tried that, the highest the sony avc codec goes for bitrate is 16mbps and there's a very noticeable loss in quality.
