    Hi all

I've now managed to join & convert my avchd clips to SD-DVD for sharing.

So that I can format my SDHC cards to use again I want to save the original HD clips on my laptop hard drive for the future when blu-ray players/recorders make an appearance in our home!

So, do I just need to save the MTS files?

    Any advice greatly appreciated

    Regards

    Lily

the mts is the audio and video the other files usually contain stuff like the timecode, but it's only useful if on a mem card in the cam. your choice, they're not big files you could save the entire file structure to your hard drive if you planned to write back to a mem card and play on the camera in the future.

i would only save the mts files personally.

Yes the MTS files at a minimum. The rest won't add much to disk storage.

Here is the AVCHD flash card memory structure. The *.MTS files are under /BDMV/STREAM

Wow, thanks for the quick replies!

Great, I'm just starting to get my head around this file structure thing

My intension is to (in the near future) author (if that's the right term?) these clips to a blu-ray disc with menu & a simple transition between each clip in continuous play.
