I have a land line phone only because I have to have a line for my (DSL) internet modem. Other than wireless/satellite internet, is there anything else? I hate paying the phone company for basically just using them as an internet provider when they bundle a lot of nonsense together. Please tell me there is something like a Magic Jack for internet coming soon, if one isn't out already. What are the alternatives for internet?

Depends on your location and what's available there. I use a microwave link to a tower a few miles away for internet as cable internet isn't available here and DSL is slow and expensive. (And I don't have a land line phone, just a cell.) There is also a WiFi commercial link here, but the speeds vary quite a bit. Cable internet is one of the most efficient, but it would need to be available near you.
I would check your phone yellow pages and see what's being offered. -
DSLReports has an ISP finder:

Don't let the "DSL" in the URL fool you. DSLReports covers broadband whether it's DSL, Cable, Satellite, etc.
