  1. I have converted my movie library to ISO format on a media server. I stream to my home theater system using the PS3 as an input into the HD receiver.

I have a Directv HD DVR in the bedroom. How can I stream so the DVR can pick it up and I can view movies that way? I can convert the library to another format (MPG2,4, etc.) if necessary.

    Thanks,

    Longashes

  2. your question sounds confusing, sounds like you are playing back through the dvr and then you are asking how you can do it

I've been playing with playing movies over the media server, if all your networking is setup right and you can see the media share folders, then all you should have to do is select the movie from the dvr and hit play

the best I can find out though, it has to be in mp4 format, the dvr's don't convert any other format, but I'm still playing with it when I have time

  3. I want to use the DVR to read movies off of my media server PC.

  4. the best info I have found (which mostly came from the dbstalk.com website) is that the video has to be in mpeg4 format, and once you have your networking setup and media sharing working (which can be a pain to get setup) you just operate it like you would when using a pc to connect to another pc, it will show the files that you can play and you select play, I only know what I have read cause I don't have any mpeg4 files and converting takes forever, but I'm still playing and working on it

  5. I believe the preferred method is to use TVersity. This will transcode the files into a compatable format for viewing. Do not expect trick play features(ff,rew, etc). I use PLAYON to extend functionality of the Directv DVRs. It does Netflix, Hulu ETC and has a beta of serving up your movie files. You can also transcode your files into .TS files which are directly compatable.

  6. I'll try it. Thank you. I already have 2 PS3's, 2 DVR's, XBox, etc. Figure it is time to leverage DVR versus buying more.

The files are in ISO format now. Any preference in programs to convert from ISO to compatible format?

  7. What I use, and of course YMMV, is Daemon tools to mount the ISO image, then I use TSMUXER to ADD the first VOB and then JOIN the additional ones. This assumes that you know the files and structure of the AVERAGE DVD.

  8. I tried tversity and while the dvr sees the server and files, I haven't been able to get anything to play, I have some avi and some dix guess it's back to playing
