Maybe not the place for this question, but here it is?
I bought a DirecTV DVR two weeks ago for std. format. I guess that if I want to download a file from it, then I could hook it up to my laptop via an ethernet cable and it will show up as a drive. If so, how do identify the file I want and burn it onto a DVD?

I talked to DirecTV. There really is no way to record anything off their DVR. It may be something allowable in the near future.
