  1. Below is the message I receive when I load certain avi files...

"Virtualdub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. THis may introduce up to 243015 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unnacceptable, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed wav file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 128.1 + 28.2 kbps)

What do I need to do to make these files work on virtualdub???

    Thanks,
    "Hark"

You could extract the audio, using Gold Wave, and save it to wave. Then load the original video, and use the new wave file as audio.

There is an option to save it as wav, I think it's in the file menu. On the audio menu, there is an option called "wav source" where you seelct the wav file.

I tried this and it didn't work well, I had out of sync problems

  4. I'm having the same problem. Anyone know of a way to fix it?
This plan is so bad, it must be one of ours.

  5. Extract the audio as .wav in virtualdub.
Resync audio as in this guide (works for avi as well as mpeg): http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59487
You can then save the fixed audio, and remux during authoring, or encoding.

VBR MP3 is not a problem in the new versions of Virtualdub. If you get a message in the new versions then turn it off. Under Options > Preferences > AVI, untick box next to "warn when VBR audio is detected".

Where's the date? I don't see any date. Do I need to configure something?

  14. Interesting. Since the forum change, on this computer I've seen no dates at all, other than the join date. But when I just checked on a different computer, they're there, just like before. Could the difference be caused by this computer using old Internet Explorer 6 and the other one using an up-to-date Mozilla Firefox?

I didn't see a date in my browser either.

That said, once the thread is brought back up, you might as well put in the correct answer for anyone else looking at the thread instead of just telling people not to post in it. Some people think it's easier to reply to a thread that's already started than to start a new thread on the same subject. Also, once the thread is brought back up then it will appear in Google on a search query just like this one is at the top of the list so telling people not to respond is not going to deter all the users on Google who are looking for an answer.

Not gonna tell people to update old browsers to see what may be missing, its up to them to update. Also closing the thread.
