I have tried to convert MKV files to any working form to play in my PS3 with no luck.
Used tsmuxer (1.10.6) with "Bluray" disc selected and "AVCHD" selected, Used imgburn eith udf 2.50. Also tried nero, with same results.
also tried mvk2vob with same results.
Tried to run from USB, and also I just see the info on the ps3 like data, not a movie.

Disc is detected as data disc.

The onlu way I can get it to work is if I run the video files from the STREAM directory in the ps3 menus, and I get no sound if I demux with DTS, so I tried to chande to ac3 using mvk2vob and it works, but I really want this discs to act like a normal blueray or avchd disc (to be detected like Video not data ).

Have seen many videos on youtube that just make simple steps on the process.
    use tsmuxer, and select "bluray".
Use the resulting dirs in imgburn with 2.50 udf selected, and should work.... I am missing somthine? do I need a DTS encoder installed or something?

Nope, you can keep the DTS audio.

I use Imgburn. I select the BDWM (?) folder, and let Imgburn work out the correct settings. Every disc I have created this way has worked fine on my PS3 (running current firmware) - probably 20 or so to date.

finally, multiAVCHD made things simple and relative fast. Corrects incorrect resolution, and is menu creating friendly. And most Important, I got USB and DVD to be detected as Video not DATA disc.... thanks!!!!

Hello. Someone help, I am having the same problem that warura was. I have several HD mkv files that I want to convert for playback specifically on for PS3, but I would like it to work for all blue ray players.

I tried using tsmuxer and the ps3 reads the dvd-r as a data disk. I saw this post and tried multiAVCHD and got the same results.

In both cases, I used ImgBurn to burn the files onto the dvd-r. Am I missing something?

Hi, I was so desperate some days ago with this, but I think I know what your problem is.... if a Video is not compatible in any way, video size, profile level greater than 4.1, etc... and ps3 will not read it period. You have to transcode it to get the right size, and setting. If you use multiAVCHD, click on the title when you add the File you want to process. Almost ever video I have tried comes out with something incompatible, so you have to transcode it. Its the only thing that is workng for me, but its a pain cause a movie takes about 6hr to transcode.... oh well, HD not only costs gb in space, it also costs many many hours..... =) hope this helps you jbhui

Also check the multiAVCHD homepage, each media (USB/DVD9/HCSD) has a folder structure you have to follow for the PS3 or some players to be able to detect it as AVCHD, like HCSD you would put the folders under
x:\PRIVATE\..... where x is your memories Letter, for DVD9 I think it has to be under a folder named AVCHD....

I use both TSMuxer (if splitting a disc) and Multi-AVCHD for converting mkvs to PS3 playable AVCHD discs and have yet to have my PS3 not recognise and play them. I burn with Imgburn using the default (Imgburn selected) settings, and have my PS3 running the current firmware. Not once has a disc been detected as data.

maybe the OS??? who knows... this is like xfiles.... by the way, any ideas why when I Use tsmuxer to change the profile from (example) 5.0 to 4.1, it goes through the process and if I reopen the file it still detects it like 5.0?

  12. You can use tsmuxer to make your file compliant & you can keep the DTS track. Use the AVCHD disk option not Blu-ray. By making it Blu-ray you won’t allow compatibility with many Blu-ray players; however AVCHD is 99% compliant with all Blu-ray players out there. Your MKV will have to be a compliant size either 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 otherwise tsmuxer will resize it incorrectly. If you have an odd-ball size MKV other then 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 you will have to re-encode with multiAVCHD again make sure its set to AVCHD not Blu-ray. Personally I prefer AVCHDCoder because it gives a more accurate file size for DVD-5/9 & it is easier to use.

In regards to your question about the profile leave it at it's default 4.0. 4.1 will in most cases work however 4.0 is more compliant with Blu-ray players. In Imgburn simply burn the folder, click yes if it prompts you to this or that & it will automatically burn as UDF 2.50.

any ideas on why the profile is not changing to 4.0 when I select it in tsmuxer? or if its 5.0 or higher the only way is to recode also?

What is the Offset option on the subtitles, the shorter the number the more it gets closer to the edge? or the shorter gets closer to the center of the video? Sorry, but have searched with no luck.....
