as the title suggests, if i have an audio file, specifically a song downloaded from the now defunct allofmp3.com site, in mp3 format at 320 kbps, is it possible to enhance the file, make the vocals and music "richer, maybe increase the volume (i know this on is possible, i just don't know how).

what tools would be good for this, audacity maybe?

Yeah, audacity will work. There will be some fidelity loss by decompressing the MP3 and recompressing after you're done, but many times it isn't noticeable. The best plugins for Audacity are VST based.

Download V1.39 - beta, but very good and stable

    Lots of tutorials on Youtube

  3. Audacity can do what you want but don't expect a miracle.
Use Classic EQ to boost midrange around 6dB, just make sure you don't clip the audio(over 0dB).
