I am converting some episodes of tv 1:77 SAR divx files from an HD source(16x9). I am using TMPGENC AUTHORING WORKS 4 with the default settings. I want the dvd to play correctly on an hd tv or sd (4:3) If i choose 16:9 as aspect ratio they play fine on my hdtv but show a squished image on my regular tv. I have been searching for days online and have not found the solution to this. Do i need to convert them to 4:3 and reconvert them to 16:9 is there some option in Authoring works i am missing? Should i be converting the video to Letterbox first then making the dvd? HELP. I am aware of what the flags do in the ifo file but it still seems like i am missing a step here.
Thanks in advance

leave the DVD's as 16x9. All later DVD's are 16x9
Setup your dvd player to play the DVD letterboxed on your 4x3 TV, or pan and scan if you want to fill your 4x3 screen (but you won't see the sides of the picture)
