    Hello,
    I use DVDAuthorGUI to author my DVDs. I have authored a couple 16x9 disks, but noticed that I needed to set the DVD players (I have two different ones) to 16x9 letterbox instead of 16x9 pan and scan. I understand that there's some sort of flag that can be set so that you don't need to set the DVD player, but I don't know how to set it. I can use PGCEdit or something like that, but have never used it before and need to get familiar with it, but have no idea where to start. This seems like a good place to start learning about PGCEdit. Any help would be appreciated. Here's my workflow:

    1. Avi -> AviSynth ->HCEnc
    2. Take the M2V and AC3 (FFMpegGUI encoded) streams and feed to DVDAuthorGUI.
    3. Once I'm sure I have everything set the way I want it, burn to DVDRW with IMGBurn for testing in set-top DVD player.
    4. After testing, burn to DVD+/-R

    Thanks,
    CogoSWSDS

    Changing the IFO's aspect ratio flag is enough for some, but not all DVD players. If it doesn't work, examine the aspect ratio of the video itself to make sure it is also 16:9. I have been using ReStream to do that and to change the aspect ratio when necessary.

    ReStream's limitation is that it only works on elementary video streams, so you have to demux the video to use it. That's fine if you haven't authored yet.

    If you have already authored, use DVD Patcher instead, as it can patch VOB files directly.

    If you want to change video attributes in PGCEdit, open DVD and highlight a title in that VTS -> Domain button -> Domain Stream Attributes. There you'll find checkboxes for automatic pan&scan or letterboxing.
