am capturing usually in 352x288 but i tried in 352x576, it captured fine, no frame drops (am using ATI VCR2 due to limited space right now) and i've tried both xing mpeg encoder and TMPGENC to re-size to PAL VCD format or 352x288 to see if the quality was better.
it seemed like the quality WAS better BUT...both progs crashed at 25% of the encoding!
any suggestions on what i can do to avoid this?
and i know people are gonna diss ATI VCR2 but it gives me a decent result for in AVI format and for converting to DIVX.
this was just something i was trying.
is it better to capture at the size you will want at the end, capture smaller and enlarge or what???

Hi
Gosh I use to use ATI VCR2 a while ago...
Sounds like your AVI's have bad frames (Your dropping frames) when you have got the AVI, run it through "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe" then you can remove bad frames before converting to VCD Mpeg.
You should be able to capture to DivX also ?
Search Grokster for "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe" or mail me.
