Title tells you exactly what I'm trying to do. I have installed x264vfw64 and the trial version of Vegas 9, but when I try to render, x264vfw64 is not one of the options. Any ideas how I can get it there? I only have 30 days, so I'd like to get the most out of it.

    Thanks,
    Dan

It won't show up in the render list. You will have to select Video for Windows (AVI) as the Save as type, then hit the Custom button, click on the Video tab and change the codec (video format) there.

Under the Render As -> Custom -> Video Tab -> Template options, I get the same list of choices that I get from the first Render As -> Template.

I attempted to Google a solution, and came across a video. Immediately after the guy installed x264vfw, he ran Vegas, and the option was in the list under Render As -> Template.

Can you link to the video ?
Are you sure it's installed ? Do you see it in virtualdub, for example ?

  5. Maybe it's a limitation of the trial?

    Nolan s Veg 8.0 Rendering Tutorial - Part 1 It's a 3 video tutorial.

I'm using the 64-bit version of Vegas, I had to install the 32-bit version of x264vfw to see it in VD, but I still don't see 32 or 64-bit in Vegas.

I might just try installing 32-bit Vegas, and see if that works. I doubt I'll be doing anything to take advantage of using 64-bit.

    Same problem on 32-bit Vegas.

  8. You could use a lossless intermediate exporting out of vegas (e.g. lagarith, huffyuv, UT), then and use x264 cli , or one of the GUI's for it e.g. xvid4psp, ripbot264, megui, handbrake

You could even frameserve out of vegas with debugmode frameserver, but I'm not sure it works with the trial

x264 is better, more stable, updated more frequently than x264vfw
