    Hi all.

I got an ACER Aspire 4920 built in with Pioneer DVD-RW DVRKD08RS rewriter.

Bought it back in Dec 2008 the writer works OK until recently.

Now my lappy keeps rebooting itself halfway during burning when using NERO 9.4.13.2. Thus tons of wasted DVDR discs (I don't use CDRs anymore). Same thing if I do "Simulation" only.

I also noticed that when playing movie files or DVD movies from DVDR disks, [burned previously prior to this "writer rebooting" came about], the audio seems to "stutter" a little bit thou the videos looks like running smoothly. Audio is OK when playing movie files or DVD movies from my hard disk.

Are there any software / checking I can do to see where there problem is coming from/to fix the problem?

Can't take it back to seller coz I live in a different town now.

I tried using an "external" writer with the laptop & all is OK this way regardless to quality of disc brand.

    Thanks.

Try burning with imgburn ... then if it completes you know nero is shot and needs complete uninstall and cleanout.

If it reboots using imgburn, take optical drive out and check the connection interface for damage ... if undamaged, reinsert and retest with imgburn.

If still no good take it back and have the acer checked by competent technician.
