  1. So last night I used Madrona and ripped the movie Election on DVD just fine.

Today I tried to rip Two Can Play That Game. The ripping process that takes like 8-12 hours went fine but when it came time to interact with Nandub I ran into some problem.

When I was prompted to not interact with my keyboard or mouse while Nandub did its thing, I watched the macro type out the directory for my video file for Election. Since it no longer existed (I deleted the 3-4 gigs all the files had taken up to make room for TCPTG), I watched it try again after a minute or so. So finally, in between "takes," I changed the TCPTG video file to the name Nandub was typing out. The process continued.

After that it loaded the video file fine, and continued, but it next went to do something with the audio. Again, I watched the macro type an file location that did not exist, this time for the audio file for Election. No problem, I figured, I'll just change the file name again.

    No such luck.

Nandub was typing a file location for an audio file in MP3 format but when I checked the directory where my TCPTG files are, there ISN'T ANY MP3 FILE, nor any audio file. All I have are the following files:

    TCPTG.session-00.1.txt
    TCPTG.session-00.2.txt
    TCPTG.session-00.3.txt
    TCPTG.session-00.4.txt
    TCPTG.session-00.0.avi
    TCPTG.session-00.video-00.0.avi
    TCPTG.session-00.video-01.0.avi
    TCPTG.session-00.video-02.0.avi
    TCPTG.session-00.video-03.0.avi
    TCPTG.session-00.video-00.fud
    TCPTG.session-00.video-01.fud
    TCPTG.session-00.video-02.fud
    TCPTG.session-00.video-03.fud
    TCPTG.fup
    TCPTG.raw.0.fud
    TCPTG.raw.1.fud
    TCPTG.raw.2.fud
    TCPTG.chain-013.fud

I'm not sure if any of this helps, but since it might I figured I would include it. I seem to recall Election's files having an audio file with an ac3 extension or something as well, but why this doesn't have it is beyond me. What baffles almost is much is why Nandub's macro is using Election's file names.

I've spent nearly 12 hours trying to rip this movie today and am at this current state. Now that I have the video files, is there a way to just rip the audio and then I'll manually join it or something? I mean damn, what am I doing wrong?

  2. When you run Madrona it starts FairUse. FairUse asks for a directory to save its files. Once you enter all the info in FairUse, Madrona comes back up and asks for the directory info you gave to FairUse. You MUST enter exactly the same info or Madrona will not be able to find the files. You must have forgotten to do this and Madrona likely used the last directory you entered...you might find your AC3 file in the other directory.

Now you will have to do the audio manually.

If you head over to Doom9's website you will find his FairUse guide which has instructions on how to do audio manually. You will also need to extract the ac3 sound from the DVD if you can't find it on your hard disk.

  3. I don't suppose you could directly link me to the pages you speak of because I was at doom9's site and couldn't find any Fair Use guide...

  4. You have to click on " the guides" then "divx guides" then "divx3.x" where you will find Fair Use listed.

    http://www.doom9.org/fu.htm

Or you can just use the above address =)

Steps 2 and 3 near the bottem of the page have links that cover doing the audio.
