  1. I have many mkv movies that are 1280x720 16/9 converted to AVCHD w/Tsmuxer, but when viewed, some fill the entire screen of my HD TV, and others fall into the typical 16x9 rectangle you see(cropped top & bottoms).
Since mediaInfo reports all the movies as the same resolution and aspect ratio, why do they differ?
    Anyone?
    Thanks...

  2. Some include black borders in the image? Many movies are wider than 16:9 and are letterboxed into a 16:9 frame for broadcast or BD.

  3. So when I see the entire screen being used, has tsmuxer or my br player converted what im seeing to 4:3 (full) letterbox?

  4. You have a 4:3 HDTV? Any widescreen material should be letterboxed by the TV or BD player. Your TV or player may have zoom (and crop) or stretch (and distort) options to fill the 4:3 screen. The former may work whether or not the video itself includes letterbox bars (depending on how much zoom is allowed). The latter will usually still have letterbox bars because they are part of the image.

Does this picture help? Most movies are 2.35:1.
