    Hey there

I recently have begun filming concerts and transferring the video to dvd. I use a Sony HDR SR12 video camera and transfer to dvd through a Sony RDR VX530 Video Cassette Recorder/Dvd Recorder. That all works fine and dandy, but recently I bought an iMac and want to start using Final Cut Express. My problem is that I apparently need to transfer the VOB files to Mpeg to edit in Final Cut. I've tried a few different programs and have the same problem every time. When I open the program I have a choice of:

    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_4.VOB
    VTS_01_5.VOB

Now I'm VERY new at this, but I've learned that the VIDEO_TS is like the "main menu" of my recorded dvd and _1-_5 is pretty much my video chopped into 5 mostly equal pieces. My problem is that I can not get VTS_01_1.VOB to load. The rest do, except for the first one. I have no clue what I'm doing wrong, but it's very frustrating. I can put in a friends dvd that he made and I have no problems. He also doesn't have a choice of _RM on his dvd either, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference?

I just d/l the trial version of Aimersoft Video Converter, and I like how easy it appears to be to use, but like with other programs, trial and whole, I cannot get that first .VOB to open. Any ideas? Thanks for any help! And I'll take suggestions on good converter programs too if anyone has one.

    Thanks much!

    R

Command-click the link - or if you have a two-button (or more) mouse, right-click the link and choose the "Save As" or "Save File As"-type option. (Haven't used Safari in some time, and don't remember what the exact options are. Safari does seem to have a tendency to want to open binary files as text, though. Other browsers don't have this problem, most of the time.)
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

Have you tried saving the file using a different browser?
