    Greetings;

I have a set of video files that have the extension ".h264", the files are from a CCTV surveillance system that we have at our work. The CCTV system included some sort of video player called "HEMPlayer" which seems to be made by "Hyper Electronics".

Now, I've searched everywhere for that HEMPLAYER but I can't find it, and such Hyper Electronics company doesn't exists.

I was reading in the forums about using alltoavi / Winavi to decode the videos but both programs crash when I try to convert any of the .h264 files.

It is very important for me to decode this videos because it contains valuable data that needs to be used by the local authorities.

I hope that anyone can help me in this matter. If there is something else that I need to do please let me know, I'm running against the clock.

    Thanks in advance
    Fred

  2. Can you open it in DGAVCIndex ?

If it's just a raw elementary stream, just put it into a container e.g. yamb for .mp4 , or mkvtoolnix for .mkv , or tsmuxer for .ts, then most media players should be able to play it e.g. vlc, kmplayer etc...

If it's a proprietary codec or format you might be out of luck

What is your goal? Just to watch it? or convert it?

It may be a proprietary format variation which will force you back to "Hyper Electronics" for support.

First of all thanks for the fast reply.

Our goal is to convert the video to any type of media that is commonly used (Avi Mpg or so) so that the authorities can use the video as evidence. If we don't convert it, then there is no way we will be able to give the evidence to the authorities (We have the video of a robbery)

    As edDV said

It may be a proprietary format variation which will force you back to "Hyper Electronics" for support.
The problem with that is that there is no such Hyper Electronics around here, not even on the internet. We talked to the company that provided the CCTV system and they said the "hemplayer" has a "convert to avi" option but it doesn't works. It just makes a 0KB .avi file.

I will try poison's suggestions and will come back with the results.

Once again thank you so much for the help.

The DGAVindex came out with errors.

Found NALU Type 0, len 31 undefined, ignored NALU, moving on
    then

Concealing (lots of numbers here) DC, (more numbers) AC, MV errors

    Not good.
