Could someone please give me some advice? I'm wanting to know what would be the best video ports to use for my DVD player -> projector setup. There's so many different ports it's mind boggling. My setup is:

    DVD Player

Sumvision HDMI Upscaling Pal DVD Player

    Ports:
    Scart Out
    HDMI
'A/V OUTPUT' ports: Y, Cb/Pb, Cr/Pr, Audio Left, Audio Right, Coaxial
'VIDEO OUT' ports: Component Video, S-Video
    Optical port
'AUDIO OUTPUT' ports: SL, CEN, SR, SUB

    Projector

    Optoma DLP EP716R Projector

    Basic Specs:
    Native Resolution: SVGA 800x600
    Compressed Resolution: XGA 1024x768
    Brightness: 2200 lumens
    Contrast Ratio: 2000:1

    Ports:
2 x VGA Ports (One says 'SCART - ' next to it)
    Audio
    S-Video
    Component Video
    VGA-Out
    RS-232

I'm basically just wanting to know which ports I should use at both ends to get the best resolution/colour/quality for playing movies. And do I need any converters or anything, and if so are they worth the cost?

Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

    Thanks everyone. Lee

Best match is analog component (Y,Pb,Pr).

Check to see if the projector accepts 720x576p (progressive). Otherwise set the DVD player to 720x576i and let the projector deinterlace.

Audio is best sent as digital (optical or coax) to a surround capable receiver.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try and find out if the projector accepts progressive or interlaced. If I use component, will that go to VGA I assume? Will I need a converted for that or a special cable?

    Thanks for your help.

    Component inputs look like this.

I looked this projector up. It seems analog component inputs require some sort of option that can't be found.

This projector is intended for conference room business presentations from a laptop (VGA) more than movies from a DVD player. Your options are limited to composite or S-Video unless your dealer can find an analog component option.

This projector should have come with a VGA-Scart adaptor, which will plug into the VGA port that also has "scart" labelled.
This might be the easiest option to connect your DVD player.
