  1. Hi,

    The Problem is as follows:

After I rip the vob files off a DVD everything is fine.
but when I extract the ac3 audio off the vob the
    audio volume is much lower.

Iīd lke to keep the ac3 sound for my avi files, but
at the same audio volume like the original DVD.

Is the any way to increase the volume or "normalize" it AND
keeping it as it is - ac3 ?

    Cheers in advance,
    Terratom

  2. If you are using DVD2AVI for serving then you need to check the box "normalization". A setting of about 93 usually works pretty well. Also you can run it through Soundforge if you do not want to go through the same process again.

  3. Thx , Alter Echo!,

But I am already using the "normalize" option in dvd2avi (at 100%)
and there still is an obvious difference in the volume.

    Concerning Soundforge:

    I havenīt tried it yet-
Is there any quality involved? (de- recompress)

    Just one more question:
Regardless of the volume - when I mux the avi and the ac3 file
PowerDVD usually doesn.7 recognize the audio stream as dolby digital -
    any solution to that?

    Thx very much!

    Bye,

  4. The quality from Sound Forge is excellent. I have used it for compression as well as conversion from 48 khz to 44.1 khz. Since it is used in audio sound applications....you can't go wrong with it.
Since I have idea about what your settings are in DVD2AVI. I will suggest a few things. Try both versions on DVD2AVI (1.76 and 1.85). I have noticed some interesting quirks with both. If you are using "auto select" try manual choosing "dolby digital". Also make sure to choose demux for dolby.
These are just shots in the dark without knowing more.......
