Ok I`m pretty sure this is the right foroum to post this, did some searching and didnt find anyone with a similar problem
I have two dv tapes from metallicas show in oslo on wednesday filmed in 16:9 but when I transfer the show it ends up like this:

I have done alot of transfers with my dv cam importing it both to sony vegas or using my standalone dvd-recorder.
What have I done wrong here? Or any tips to fix this? Let me know, thanks[/b]

hard to guess without specs of the the file you uploaded and/or a small sample.

Just based on what you have there, it wasn't filmed in 16:9 but in widescreen 4:3.
Try adding this to the tags:
yt:crop=16:9

But it'll look worse after being upscaled. You could have saved yourself the problem by uploading a real 1.78:1 video at 640x360 or 854x480 (better). And you also have a problem with seriously blown out whites that I would try and improve (probably can't be fixed entirely at this point). James Hetfield's skin looks pretty white when he's in the spotlight and I don't think it looked quite like that during the show. The blacks look a little grey to me, also.
