  1. I've got my HTPC hooked up to my at the moment via a DVI to HDMI cable. Unfortunately, there is no separate audio input on the TV for the HDMI. I really don't wat to have to send the audio to a separate set of speakers, so I was looking for another alternative. When I have it connected VGA, it looks okay, but there is a bit of ghosting, icons were hard to read, and the image often lagged a bit. I found this: http://sewelldirect.com/dvivideoadapter.asp

Is this going to give me the same quality as VGA because it's just pulling the analog signal from the DVI port?
This plan is so bad, it must be one of ours.

  2. That adapter will only work with specific ATI graphics cards that output component at the DVI port (this is not a standard feature of DVI). You need to verify if your graphics cards is one of them or all you'll have is a paperweight.

Ghosting over VGA indicates a poor cable. How long is the cable? What resolution are you running at?
