I want to use a DVI to Component adapter to use my pc on my HDTV big screen. Does anyone have experience using the AMC DVI-HDTV200 DVI to Component Adapter? I would like to hear some reviews of the uses of this product?

I plan on using the ATI 100-437808 Radeon X1650PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card on my PC and connecting via the DVI output and the AMC DVI-HDTV200 DVI to Component Adapter. I have read that the adapter will only work on a ATI Card? Why? Is this the case? Or is there a better way of achieving this connection altogether?

  2. That adaptor does not convert the digital DVI data to component video. DVI has optional analog video pins that can carry component video or RGB. Not all graphics cards support the option.

This is the ATI DVI to Component adapter I have used:

This one, at least, only works with a few ATI Radeon cards:

    ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 8500 Series
    RADEON 9500 Series
    RADEON 9600 Series
RADEON 9600 PRO PC & MAC Edition (Compatible with PC users only)
    RADEON 9700 Series
    RADEON 9800 Series
    RADEON X800 Series
    RADEON X850 Series
    RADEON X1K Series
    RADEON HD 2000 Series

Is there any other way to make this happen then?

As far as I can tell none of these ATI Radeon cards are in production:

    ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 8500 Series
    RADEON 9500 Series
    RADEON 9600 Series
RADEON 9600 PRO PC & MAC Edition (Compatible with PC users only)
    RADEON 9700 Series
    RADEON 9800 Series
    RADEON X800 Series
    RADEON X850 Series
    RADEON X1K Series
    RADEON HD 2000 Series

    Any newer ones?

Why not use a DVI to HDMI adaptor instead? That way your video signal will remain digital.

  7. Isn't the Radeon X1650PRO on redwudz's list as the "RADEON X1K Series"?

I didn't think that HDMI connected to Component RCA? Am I wrong? If I wasn't clear my TV only has Component Video hook-ups.

    I think it is:

Link to support for the card: http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894

    Manual for the adapter: http://www2.ati.com/manuals/CmpVidAd.pdf

    Specs for the card: http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonx1650/radeonx1650pro/specs.html

    Listed in the specs:

YPrPb component output for direct drive of HDTV displays

    YPrPb component output (with adapter)

So it will probably work with the adapter, 'if' YPrPb is the format your TV requires. But don't quote me on that.

ATI is a little obscure at times, such as listing which cards will work with the adapter. And make sure that the modes the adapter outputs are compatible with your TV display.

Thanks Jaqabo, I think on the same page this might be cool:

In my endless search Last night I found This DVI to HDTV Converter by DVIgear.

    http://dvigear.stores.yahoo.net/codvitohd.html

It looks like the no B.S. solution to me. I would love to hear from someone that has used this?

  14. I was going to tell you to be sure it came with the adaptor to go from the 7 pin DIN to component RCA -- but you can see the adaptor in one of the product pictures.
