And then it's just black... It happened today! I'm running safe mode right now... I use a Sony TV monitor... Plz tell me how I can fix this!

I don't have Vista but I'll take a stab at it.

I don't want to reboot my computer to check so I'm going from memory.

When you press F8 to go to the screen where you select the safe mode is there an option that says something about VGA? If yes choose that and then reboot.

I think I had a similar issue after reinstalling XP once.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

I reinstalled Vista about a week ago too.. but now it's got no screen. And does VGA stand for something? Cause my OS is in danish... so a full name would be great! Also I just tried to reset the resolution it worked for 2 mins until I logged on to my user... STRAAANGE!

VGA (Video Graphics Array) is the name of the fifteen pin video output port on the rear of your computer and also a compatibility 'mode' on that F8 page.

Another possibility is you have the wrong or a corrupted video driver. You could uninstall that. In safe mode the installed driver isn't used, just the generic system driver is. That could explain why safe mode works.

Vista has quite a few video card drivers built into the OS. If you uninstall the one you presently have, Vista 'may' put the right one back in. Then you could go to the video card manufacturer's site and make sure you find the latest or best driver and put that in. Uninstall the driver that Vista supplied first.

Vista's drivers are fairly generic and don't have all the features that the manufacturer's version does. You should be able to do most of this in safe mode.

    Thank you! I'll try that.

Good that you got it solved.

Sorry I couldn't reply faster but I had to get some much needed zzzzzzzz (different time zone here ).

This is what I was thinking of but this article also explains how to reset the video driver by removing the existing error causing one while in Safe Mode. It's a better explanation than I provided in my sleepy state but both ways probably would have worked although the safe mode option is better.

It's basically the MS official version of what redwudz suggested to you.
