Hello, I am attempting to convert some AVI's to RMVB to save space. I used WinAvi version 9. I kept everything the same: resolution, frame rate etc. WinAvi successfully converted the file. The resulting RMVB file plays fine. The problem is: the RMVB is actually about 15-20% larger than the original AVI file. Usually, after conversion, I find the RMVB file about half the size of the original file. I don't know what happened here. Can anyone offer some suggestions?

  2. file size = bitrate * running time

    Use a lower bitrate.
