    most of mine rmvb converting to Avi was fine...but ther are some rmvb file can't convert at all, it just stuck at the progressing stage... no matter how many time i try converting the file ,it still the same.l.
    the rmvb file itself dun look any thing wrong to me as i played in normal player...

    anyone got any ideal whats going wrong with the rmvb file ?

    Depends on how you are playing the file(s). Some players, such as VLC, can play files that are damaged/corrupted. Just because a file is playable doesn't mean it is not corrupted. Many tools can't open/edit/convert damaged files.

    So my guess would be that your files are corrupted. Also note that WinAvi isn't very highly regarded.

  3. If it stalls at the same spot (e.g. 11 minutes into the video every time), then there is likely an error at that spot.

    I can think of 2 ways around this (I've used both successfully in the past)

    1) Use easy real media tools to cut that segment out. You can have 2 segments (or you can even re-join them with the editor). Then feed this into your converter

    2) Use frameserving using avisynth into virtualdub to use as an encoder to create an XviD or DivX .avi. If it's playable normally with a media player, then this method should work. There are a couple threads on how to do this, just search.
