    Hi guys

I have been converting a few VCDs to watch on a PSP, using programs like PSP Video 9 and RipBot264. (Latest versions too)
For the most part, it works fine except for the last 5 - 10 minutes of each disc, where the audio will gradually go out of sync.

Has this got to do with the different sampling rate on VCDs (44.1KHz)? Or is this just a flaw on the PSP?
    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Are the converted files in sync if you play them on your computer?

    You can also try Handbrake.

Hi Baldrick, thanks for your response.
What I've noticed so far with my limited experiment is if I encode with MPEG4-ASP, the audio will go out of sync on both my PC and my PSP.
If I encode in AVC, it syncs, however, I messed up the encode to a point where my PSP is unable to support.

Sorry, I cannot provide further information without more experiment.
My PSP is currently a PSP-3006 (3000 series for Asia) with Firmware version 5.03 if that helps.

Also, I have another question. I have been doing several rips from DVD to PSP-MP4 AVC. With RipBot264, when I am customizing my rips, RipBot264 will automatically add black borders after cropping it off. I know it's as easy as just removing the command from the AviSynth window on the right. My question is, will manually adding black bars using AviSynth use up much bitrate when encoding, and thus affecting the overall video quality? Especially with movies that are in 2.39.

    Thanks

Are you converting straight from the VCD files, or converting the .DAT files to MPEG first using tools like vcdgear or ISOBuster and then converting the resulting MPEGs for the PSP?
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

I copied out the .DAT file, rename it to .MPG and convert it from there.

Don't do that. Use vcdgear or isobuster(right click on the dat and choose to extract the mpg).

Ok, thanks. I will give that a try.

Meanwhile, my other question, will adding in additional pure black bars affect the overall quality using H.264/AVC?
