Hi
I have looked through a few threads but cannot seem to find a way to crop the top and
bottom of my VHS conversion.
I get a thin line of garbage stuff at the top of the screen and that line of what looks
like a refection at the bottom.
What is the best way to remove these ?
Thanks.

Mask them with black borders. They won't be seen on most televisions as the noise will be in the overscan area and therefore hidden. However it does require some bitrate to encode, so the simplest method is to crop, then add borders (do not resize). This can be done easily with either virtualdub or avisynth. All solutions will require re-encoding.

Oops - just noticed this is the Mac forum, so neither of those solutions are readily available to you. Try AVI Demux instead. It can also crop and add borders for you.Read my blog here.
