When selecting items to generate a report there is a provision to "not select" certain files. Is there a way to "not select" certain folders. Several weeks ago I contacted the author(support) but have not heard from him.

  2. In the "Where Is It?" help file, it says:

How to search for items that do NOT match certain criteria

To search for items that do not match certain criteria you will have to use the advanced searching. Just prepare your search expression as you would normally do, put the whole expression in parentheses, and put the NOT command at the front.

For example, to search for all files that are not .DOC or .TXT documents, your expression will look something like that:

not ((File Mask = "*.doc") or (File Mask = "*.txt"))

I have put folders in the query rather than files by selecting the advanced search option "Search by Item Paths" and then putting a not in front of it, and it works.

    For example:

    not (Item Path includes: "archived")

    drjtech,

Couldn't get it to work. What I'm trying to do is search thru movie data base and not get audio_ts and video_ts folders names. I set up the regular search with *.* to get everything and then setup advanced search like you said.
If this is not correct would you set me up with a complete search procedure? If I can get this to work I think that I can do the other searches by myself. Hate to be so picky but obviously I am doing something wrong.
