Hi there, first post here. Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:

I have a Divx file in AVI format with separate subtitles in .SRT format. This is all well and good when watching this particular video on my computer, but I cannot stream it to my xbox 360 with the subtitles. So what I'm trying to do is find a way to create a file readable by the xbox which is the video with the subtitles on it. I've heard you can do this with VLC media player but i can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the Xbox 360 cannot read external subs, and cannot read embedded subs then your only options are to either use a media server that transcodes the video with the subs on the fly, or re-encode the video with subtitles.

There are several tools out there that will re-encode with subs. I like Xvid4PSP.
