The plot thickens the deeper i go. I want to convert my old video8 tapes and bring them into Adobe Premier. To start i used a dazzle dv bridge but it kept failing. i am interested in buying a digital8 camcorder so i can transfer direct via firewire.
problem 1. Not all camcorders are backward compatible. Does anyone know which camcorder i should buy?
problem 2. I have found that not all digital8 camcorders are compatible with windows Vista.
I would be very gratefull if someone had done a tried and tested method and could help me with this problem.

#1 Read camcorder specs for analog tape playback capability. Original models 1998-2000 all had this feature. Mid 2000's saw the feature only on upper range models. Most recent models dropped the feature.
#2 Never heard of Vista being an issue. Use WinDV for capture if there is a problem.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
