  1. My DVD Player will not play SVCD's so I am attempting to convert an SVCD to an XVCD which it will play. I rip the file structure from the bin image, then I use TMPGenc to convert the resulting .mpg from SVCD to XVCD. I am using a 480X480 size and have tried everything from 1800 to 2400 as the bitrate. I set the stream type to VCD non standard. Then I go into MPEG tools and use the simple multiplex feature. The resulting MPEG is created and when played on the PC the audio is fine. When I burn it with nero using the non standard video CD option, and it is able to burn. But when I play it in the DVD player, the audio is out of sync by about 1-2 seconds. I have tried demultiplexing it to audio and video and then remultiplexing, it still did not work properly.

    I have a SONY DVP-NS300 DVD Player.

  3. This is what I am doing, the one difference is that I am using non standard MPEG 1 rather than standard MPEG 1. I will try standard tonight, maybe that's what is throwing it off. But some people at the bottom of that thread were saying they had audio sync problems with this method...

I also see from this thread that it doesn't convert anything, it just changes the header. I noticed that today myself, when I looked at the new mpeg it still was an MPEG 2. If changing the header type to standard doesn't work, I am going to demux it tonight, convert the video to MPEG 1 and remux it and hopefully that'll work.

If anyone has other suggestions or a step by step on the best way to do this, it would be appreciated. I am a newbie to this stuff...

  4. Thanks Warthawg,

It's working!!! I had to do two things. First I used the standard VCD header rather than non standard. I then tried to burn in nero. My DVD player wouldn't even read it. Then I burned the same mpg with VCDEasy and it worked like a charm!

I am using XP, guess there are problems with Nero in XP...
