Hello all, I'm having problems figuring out why my dads computer has suddenly started giving errors whenever he tries to copy a movie.

The DVD burner model is ATAPI DVD A DH16A3L SCSI.

    Software he has installed:
    Nero 7
    1Click DVD Copy with DVD43

He's been using both of these for months now without problem until last week. 1Click will copy the movie and ask for a blank, when a blank is placed in the CD Drive a error will appear or 1Click will just freeze and I can't open the CD Drive unless I restart. With Nero7, I use the Copy DVD option and after putting in a blank when asked it will give an error. He has tried to recopy some older movies and that isn't working.

Anyone have any ideas? Let me know if theres anymore info needed.

you could always use system restore to back up to last week I suppose
sometimes, errors occur when the HDD is out of space

    What error messages ?
    What media ?
What, if any, error messages are in the system logs ?
What else changed last week ?
Have you tried ripping with DVDFab HD Decrypter (without DVD43) and burning with Imgburn ?

It's a very vague message composed in a sentence basically saying there is an error. The computer is relatively new and still has over 200gigs of free space. Would there be an option to check the systems log when the error appears? I haven't tried any other software yet and I'd like to leave system restore as a last possible option.

Another thing to note is I can burn data and movies fine using Nero, but anything to do with copying is giving errors.

DVD43 offers only average copy protection removal, and isn't updated frequently. You should be using DVDFab HD Decrypter to copy protected discs to your HDD, then back them up using Imgburn (if they will fit on a DVD5 or if you are using DVD9 / Dual Layer discs) or DVD Rebuilder and Imgburn if you need to reduce the size to fit a single layer (DVD5) disc.

I downloaded the 85pp firmware given in your link ntscuser and it says the drives are incompatible. I also checked HP support site and I seem to have the latest firmware.

  9. What speed are you trying to burn the discs? The speed may be too high for the discs.
