  1. Everytime I change my "View" to a certain one (thumbnails, tiles, icon, list, details) and I exit the folder, it changes back to thumbnails for some reason. I want it to stay on the last type I leave it to (list), but automatically changes back to "thumbnails" when I exit and re-renter the folder. How do I make it stay according to the last one I leave it as?

Set the view to the way you want it to be.

Click on Tools -> Folder Options

    Click on the View tab

Scroll down the Advanced Settings list and make sure Remember Each Folders View Settings is ticked. If not, tick it and click OK.

Remember that this only holds for Windows Explorer. It doesn't hold for things like the File->Open dialogue etc.

If you want this view to carry across all your folders, click the Apply to All Folders button, then click OK.

  3. Yep, I go to the Advanced Settings list and "Remember Each Folders View" setting is ticked. It is already checked.

But when I leave the folder, it changes one to "Icon" even after I change it to "List". The other one it changes to "Thumbnail" after I change it to "List".

It just won't remember it for some reason.

I have seen this recommended. No guarantees, and you do this at your own risk.

XP has a limit to the number of views it can remember. This registry change will increase that limit from 400 to 8000 : http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/bags8000.reg

Download the .reg file, double-click on it and let it do it's thing. Once it is done, reboot.

Open Windows Explorer, then click on Tools -> Folder Options, then the View tab. Click Reset All Folders, then click OK. Close Windows Explorer.

Open Windows Explorer, then click on Tools -> Folder Options, then the View tab. Set your folder views to be as you want them, and see if they stick.
