  1. Hi, anybody knows how to rip the subtitles from DVD to SVCD? I dont need them to switch on and off (my Pioneer DV-525 doesn't support that), just want them to be displayed (encoded to movie) while playing.

  2. Easiest way ?
Use DVDx or XMpeg with the CCE codec.
Quality is like TMPGenc, it's faster and suports subtitles with just a setting.
Only contra is that it doesn't have as much settings as TMPGenc and it's not free (atleast CCE costs a whole lot of $$).

  3. DVDx 1.6 will rip a DVD with the subtitle of your choice (if available) if you check a box. I've only done it on one DVD but it worked great!
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  4. Thanks, I'll try. And what if I want to put subtitles to DivX file encoded to MPEG2? I have the video file, the subtitle text file (text and time codes). Is there a utility that can put subtitles automatically where they should be?

  5. if i recall vobsub will accept .srt & .ssa format subs. use vobsub with virtualdub, aviutil, avisynth or graphedit

  6. You may want to try the all-in-one solutions.

DVD2SVCD will do SVCD, CVD, and Permanent subtitles. It uses avisynth for the permanent subs.

Gordian Knot for your DivX w/Subtitles.

Both are awesome programs and will give you the best results!

  7. 1) the vobsub/virtual dub combination seems good...only failed me one time. vobsub filter (add subs) in virtual dub and frameserve to tmpgenc...

    2) use flaskmpeg and frameserve to tmpgenc with avisynth. flaskmpegn allows you to add subs
