Help with Dazzle Capture Card

Hello,

This is my first post on this website and was wondering a few things about my capture card.

I have a Dazzle Creator Plus (DVC 107)

and i've captured videos from my TV out composite ports of my TV, till now the capturing i get is very interlaced.

Also the quality looks so bad,

My computer might be the reason as it is running at 1.61Ghz but has sufficient RAM 1.25GB

but my main question is, people on youtube just use Y splitters and get good quality with minimal interlacing.

So i was asking if using splitters would be a better option instead of my TV's out.

try setting your encoder to de-interlace as part of the encoding process. computer displays need progressive video. capture using the highest quality settings your software allows, and then encode to flv with de-interlacing for youtube. splitters won't give you any better video.

My encoder won't do de-interlacing but will do progressive instead of interlacing, but when I use progressive it becomes very laggy, almost looking like the video skips, this problem might be because of my processor as the capture card box states to have atleast 1.8 Ghz of CPU but is recommended to have 2.4Ghz and above and I only have 1.61Ghz at the moment.

Though I have to admit that progressive gets rid of the interlace very well but brings up the issue of objects having doubles of them.

Would having component instead of composite help at all?

We need a LOT more info on exactly what you are doing here if you want help.

What is your encoder?

What is your final format it produces?

What are format and settings are you using when you capture your video?

You also need to understand what interlacing means because you either have it or you don't. Saying your video is "very interlaced" or has "minimal interlacing" is not an accurate description of what is going on. Well, actually if you have some bastardized mix of interlaced and progressive video that latter one could be true, but I don't see how a Dazzle card would do that.

Finally, note that video game captures are a real bitch and people have all kinds of trouble doing that. It's not for novices.

Encoder= Pinnacle Studio 12, ( then encoded to MPEG4 with Xilisoft Video Converter)( I dont think it supports de-interlacing when encoding either)

Format= MPEG 2

Bitrate = 5500 kbps/s but can do 10,000 kbps/s MAX

I heard sony vegas is also a greatcapturing software with de-interlacing options, will take a look at that as well.

Also an update: I returned the dazzle capture card and buying Pinnacle MovieBox Ultimate to see if thre's any differences.

What you describe consistently as "very interlaced" is actually called "ghosting". Various things can cause ghosting. I am wondering if you are doing some resizing too as this can also have a negative effect on your final output if it's not done properly.

You may be better off with the Pinnacle device. Years ago Dazzle made one of the very best PCI based video capture cards in the old DVC-II, but their products since then have just about all been USB based and nobody seems to think much of those.

Yea almost forgot that the video is also resized from 720x480 to 640x480

don't know if that causes much problems but, the ghosting only comes in in one of the videos which I deleted and don't have anymore.

I also wanted to know how the people on youtube get better quality than me using splitters only instead of TV out.
Also my RCA cables are great quality as well. I thought using splitters migh have been a different story.

I was wondering if the MovieBox Ultimate listed below would have better quality than the Dazzle.
