HI !!!!!!!!
Tried to search the net and VideoHelp but found nothing useful to solve my problem....![]()
What I want to do is quite simple:
I have 2 different versions of a movie. One is cut the other is uncut. Both are DVD-Video and PAL, to make it easy, no conversion from NTSC to PAL needed (since I come from PAL-Land, Europe, Germany - the latter explains why I need uncut composites - strong censorship over here) and no format conversion (e.g. AVI to DVD) is neccessary.
So I want to keep the video of the uncut version (say the UK-DVD) and adjust the audio from the cut German source.
The problem is, of course, that the German audio track is a few seconds/minutes shorter than the UK. Now when an edited/censored scene comes I need to keep the original UK-audio and for the rest I wanna take the German audio.
I'm sure you understand what I want to achieve.
Now could you guys help me with my problem ? I need a tutorial/guide, a simple programme/tool which mixes audio tracks in combination with video.
Thanx a lot.
bye

True, you could just add sections of blank audio where the audio is missing. But you would have to first determine the length of the missing audio parts exactly to add in the blank audio.
Sure, it's do-able, but will take a fair amount of work. Others may have a easier method.

As redwudz correctly asserts, what you want to do will involve a nontrivial amount of labor. There are professional editing suites that can make it easier, but not easy.
A tool I use frequently for audio processing is Audacity. It has many useful features, and it happens to be free. It allows you to cut and paste, speed up/slow down, etc. All you need is disk space and patience. Lots of patience.
If your audio is a surround-sound track, then you have a lot more work to do. But if you're willing to live with ordinary "2.0" stereo sound, then the operations are straightforward (although still time-consuming).
Others will offer their advice, I'm sure. Stand by for their recommendations, then make your choice. -
Are the two audio formats compatible? Same format, same number of channels?
Assuming the two audio tracks are compatible, I would stack the two video files in AviSynth to identify the "censored" sections. Then trim them as necessary to assemble them to piece the audio together as desired, then feed the script to QuEnc in audio only mode to create a new AC3 audio file to use with the original video.
I wouldn't use Audacity to do this, but Audacity can work with 6 channel (5.1) as easily as 2 channel. Just make sure in Preferences\File Formats\ to set "When exporting tracks" to "Use Advanced Mixing Options" so it saves 6 channel wav."Shut up Wesley!" -- Captain Jean-Luc Picard
