I recently downloaded a free trial version of iSofter DVDPlatnium and it takes 5 minutes to covert a 1 minute of dvd footage. My question is, is that fast ?? What is the average time of converting a dvd file that is a minute long ? ? ? ? And what program do you use ? ? ?
Thanks in advance.

That is quite good for an Athlon1800. Faster CPU will will result in quicker times. look in tools section for software.

If you are just ripping (Decrypt and move the DVD files to your hard drive}, it's mostly a function of your DVD drive speed. To rip takes just a few minutes. To transcode the main movie to a ready to burn format with DVD Shrink, it takes about 15 to 20 additional minutes with my system. If you need to encode it to a different format, depends on your CPU speed and the format and settings you are using.
I use DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip, then DVD Shrink to transcode to a DVD-5 size, main movie only, and burn with ImgBurn. All freeware.
