Can't play or view atleast any of my movies

Hi,

I just had to format my harddrive and reinstall my windows xp with sp2. I installed all my players with all the codecs. But now I can't play any of my movies. There isn't any sound or vision. Just a black screen. I have WMP v11, VLC, DivX player, real player,... and for the codecs I have the DivX codecs, ffdshow, klmcodec 400 full version. What can be wrong or what do I have to do to get the movies to play. Most of them are avi files.

Play the same video in two media players at the same time. Do you get a black frame in one and a normal video in the other? If so, you need to fix your video overlay settings (this is a very common problem with new installs or graphics card driver updates) via your graphics card's setup applet. You may need to adjust the brightness, contrast, color, etc settings. Or maybe just turn off video acceleration and turn it back on.
